2025 Annual Influenza Vaccination Programme

We are inviting our most vulnerable patients to have the flu vaccination. The NHS criteria is: All over 65 and those under 65 who suffer from diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease or some other chronic illness. If you have a learning disability, are a main carer or carer in the community or in a care home or in a household of immunocompromised individuals, you are also eligible. All pregnant women should have the flu vaccine to protect themselves and their baby.

All patients within the above categories will have a vaccine reserved at the surgery and will receive a text or a letter inviting them to book into a clinic.

All children aged 2 to 15 on 31 August 2024 will be offered the vaccine, only two and three year olds will be offered it in general practice and the rest must be done at school.

Clinics will be held in the week. If you have a mobile phone you will be sent a link via text for you to book your own flu appointment. If you do not have a mobile phone you will receive a letter with a date and time slot for you to attend. It is imperative that you make every effort to attend this appointment as we may struggle to provide an alternative. If you really cannot make your appointment you will need to contact the surgery to see if we have any further flu clinics available.

If you are housebound and a family member/ friend is unable to bring you in to the surgery we will arrange for a Nursing team member to visit your home to give you the vaccine.

Weight Loss Medication - Mounjaro / Tirzepeptide

Although you may have heard on the news or social media that GP`s are able to prescribe Tirzepeptide (Mounjaro) to patients without diabetes the situation in Rotherham and across South Yorkshire is that we are not currently allowed to.

The first cohort of patients who are eligible for Tirzepeptide on the NHS are those with a BMI of >40 AND 4 weight related illnesses ( these are  1. heart disease or vascular disease, 2.high Blood pressure, 3.sleep apnoea, 4. Type 2 Diabetes , 5.raised cholesterol or other lipids ), alongside weight loss injections patients will have to engage with regular wraparound care which includes advice on diet and exercise .

If you believe you match these criteria please contact us with an up to date height and weight and we will arrange for you to be on the waiting list for Rotherham Specialist Weight Management Service who are currently the only service who can prescribe these weight loss injections.

As GP's we really want to try and improve weight support for our  patients including  medication where appropriate as we know it is important to health and well being.

If you're looking for help with losing weight through diet and exercise, you might want to contact Healthwave on 01709 719720. They offer support with healthy lifestyle changes, though they don’t provide tirzepatide or any other weight loss injections.
