Dinnington Group Practice 2020- 2021 Flu Campaign.

We have started to send invites out to patients who are eligible for this years flu vaccination. Initially we are inviting all our most vulnerable patients to have the flu vaccination e.g. over 65 and those under 65 who suffer from diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease or other chronic illness. If you have a learning disability, are a main carer or carer in the community or in a care home you are also eligible. All pregnant women should have the flu vaccine to protect themselves and their baby.

All patients within the above categories will have a vaccine reserved at the surgery and will receive a letter or a text inviting them to a clinic.

(It will be later in the year that we will invite anyone else not in the above categories e.g. all over 50 year olds or those living with shielding patients subject to availability.)

Children aged two and three years will be given the vaccination at their general practice usually by the practice nurse. Nearly all eligible children in reception year and school years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 throughout England will be offered the flu vaccine in school.

Due to COVID and the need to keep socially distanced for everyone’s safety we are doing the flu clinics differently this year. Clinics will be held in the week and you will be invited to a specific half hour time slot. It is really important that you only attend on that day within that time slot, not early or late. It is imperative that you make every effort to attend this appointment, as due to these exceptional circumstances we may struggle to provide an alternative. If you really cannot make your appointment time you will need to contact the surgery in November 2020 to see if we have any further flu clinics available.

You will be required to wear a face covering, keep socially distanced, please arrive alone unless you need support, wear short sleeves if possible and you will be asked not to sit down unless required for medical reasons.
